Provided are a suppressive agent, a prophylactic agent and a therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis, each of which has little adverse side effects and can normalize immune abnormality in rheumatoid arthritis. A suppressing agent, a prophylactic agent or a therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis, which contains a euglena-derived substance as an active ingredient. The agent can remedy immune abnormality in rheumatoid arthritis, and therefore can be used as an antirheumatic drug capable of controlling the activity of rheumatoid arthritis. The agent can also be used for a living body which does not receive a definitive diagnosis for rheumatoid arthritis yet. The agent is administered to the living body continuously for a period before the definitive diagnosis for rheumatoid arthritis till an arbitrary time point elapsed after the definitive diagnosis. The euglena-derived substance is at least one substance selected from the group consisting of an alga body of euglena, paramylon which is originated from the euglena, water-soluble amorphous paramylon which is produced by subjecting the aforementioned paramylon to an alkali treatment and a neutralization treatment, and emulsion paramylon which is produced by subjecting the aqueous paramylon solution to such a treatment that the aqueous solution is ejected through a microhole nozzle under a super-high pressure to bombard the aqueous solution against an object to be bombarded.
