CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A CHEMICAL INJECTION PUMP

A control system for a chemical injection pump used in oil and gas processes comprises a pump actuator operably connectable to a chemical injection pump and comprising an electric motor, at least one process parameter sensor located such that at least one process parameter is measured; and a controller communicative with the motor and process parameter sensor and programmed to vary speed of the motor as a function of process parameter measurements received from the process parameter sensor, thereby varying injection rate of the pump. The pump can be a methanol injection pump in which case the sensor is an ambient and/or process temperature sensor, and the controller is programmed to vary the speed of the motor so as to vary the injection rate of methanol into a gas process.
