PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a position of an occupant staying in a vehicle.SOLUTION: An occupant detection device for determining a moving route of an occupant moving in a cabin of a motor vehicle includes: imaging means for acquiring images of the cabin: detection means for detecting that the occupant in the cabin passes one of a plurality of virtual gates virtually provided in the cabin, based on a plurality of images taken by the imaging means; and route determination means for determining the moving route of the occupant in the cabin, based on the order of passing the virtual gate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
