PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latent image printed matter in which an animation effect of continuously and smoothly varying phases of a basic image can be developed while the basic image is prevented from appearing or disappearing against the scheme of the image.SOLUTION: In a printed image region on a substrate, a semi-cylindrical element group is present, which includes a plurality of semi-cylindrical elements arranged at a predetermined pitch in a first direction, each element having at least either of a light-dark flip-flop property and a color flip-flop property; and a latent image element group having a different hue from that of the semi-cylindrical elements is layered on the semi-cylindrical element group. The latent image element group includes: an IP element group comprising a plurality of IP elements arranged at a predetermined pitch in the first direction, in which the IP elements are prepared by dividing a first basic image in the first direction and compressing divided image with a predetermined compression rate; and an IP reversal element group comprising a plurality of IP reversal elements arranged at a predetermined pitch in the first direction, in which the IP reversal elements are prepared by dividing a second basic image in the first direction, compressing the divided image with a predetermined compression rate, and mirror-reversing the image in the first direction.
