PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footwear construction that provides high performance and enhanced comfort.SOLUTION: The footwear construction has a strobel-stitched bottomed upper 12 and a sole assembly 14 with a top sole 22 disposed above a strobel board 16. The top sole 22 is manufactured from a foam. The sole assembly 14 may include an inner sole 24 disposed above the top sole 22. The inner sole 24 may be manufactured from EVA foam. The top sole 22 may have a thickness of at least 1 mm, the inner sole 24 may have a thickness of at least 3 mm, and the total thickness of the top sole 22 and inner sole 24 may be at least 5 mm. The sole assembly 14 may include a midsole 18 (and possibly an outsole 20) disposed below the strobel board 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
