A finite photoconducting belt, which is converted into an infinite belt for an indirect electro-photographic copying machine. The belt is conveyed over rollers with a chain drive mechanism. A number of triangular holes (3) with rounded apex angle (4) is incorporated close to one edge (2) of the photoconducting belt (1). One edge of the belt is provided with a reinforcement strip which extends across the entire width of the belt. The triangular holes are formed in a row along the reinforcement strip. The holes are close to each other. The reinforcement strip (5) can be made of metal, or plastic or cardboard.
