PURPOSE:To enlarge the diameter of main electrostatic lens by inserting a pair of electrodes for main electrostatic lens from the opposite sides of a tubular insulator to be secured in the neck then stopping when mounting an electron gun in the neck. CONSTITUTION:When mounting an electron gun in the neck 1 of a cathode-ray tube, the cathode 12 in the electron gun, second to fourth electrodes 14-16 and the conventional tubular section 271 of fifth electrode 27 for acceleration are held while planted on an insulative supporter 21 through studs 20. While the enlarged section 272 of the fifth electrode 27 and the sixth electrode 28 constituting main electrostatic lens have such outer diameter as insertable in the neck 1 and inserted into a tubular insulator 4 having plural hole sections 5 from the opposite sides to be held by stopping the projections of the electrodes 27, 28 in the hole section 5. Consequently, the voltage withstandability and the mechanical strength can be improved while the diameter of lens is increased to improve the focus performance.
