PURPOSE:To obtain a feed which is formulated with a polysaccharide having specific physical properties, thus is useful for domestic animals because it acts as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for a variety of diseases to increase feed efficiency. CONSTITUTION:Feed materials such as fish meal are combined with a polysaccharide having following properties: description: white amorphous powder with no taste and no smell; solubility: soluble in water, formamide, dimethyl sulfoxide; insoluble in alcohol, acetone, benzene, ethyl acetate, hexane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride; the pH of its aqueous solution: neutral to slightly acidic; constituent monosaccharides: only glucose; elementary analysis: C 43.0-45.0%, H 6.0-6.3%; chemical structure: an alpha-glucan having the alpha-1,6 bond as a major linkage; protein: not detective according to the Lowry method; molecular weight: higher than 10,000; color reactions: positive to the anthrone sulfuric acid reaction, phenol-sulfuric acid reaction; negative to the biuret reaction, the Lowry-Folin reaction; medicinal action: antitumor action; preferably in an amount of 0.02-2.0wt.% to give a feed for animals. |
