The invention concerns a thread delivery device (F) which is equipped with a thread brake (B) and comprises an axially symmetrical storage member (4) with a front draw-off edge (5) which, together with a brake band (A) which is continuous in the peripheral direction and is in the form of a frustoconical jacket of material which can be elastically deformed perpendicular to the frustoconical generatrix, forms a thread braking region (Z) of the thread brake (B) which comprises a stationary support (9) for a brake band carrier (T) which urges the brake band (A) approximately axially and resiliently against the draw-off edge (5). The brake band is held in floating manner on the brake band carrier relative to the draw-off edge (5) and relative to the brake band carrier (T).
