PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely maintain a tense state of an inserted weft from just after the weft insertion for a prescribed period, and further to treat the yarn end in the state. SOLUTION: This weft tension-maintaining device 1 for a water-jet type loom has a weft yarn-receiving part 6 for receiving the end part of an inserted weft yarn 3, a sucking means 29 for generating a negative pressure for suction, and a pipe 30 communicating the passage of the weft yarn-receiving part 6 with the sucking means 29. The weft yarn-receiving part 6 has a first passage 31 opened for receiving the jetted water flow 39, and a second passage 32 for sucking the weft yarn 3 connected to a woven fabric. Further, the weft yarn- receiving part 6 has a second restricting face 38 facing to the weft yarn 3 in a flying state, and a first restricting member 5 arranged within the region between the woven fabric 11 and the weft yarn-receiving part 6 so as to be swingably driven as the beating movement.
