PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a galvanized steel sheet excellent in corrosion resistance, plating adhesion and spot weldability. SOLUTION: A galvanized layer composed of 0.1-3.0 mass % Mg, 0.02-1.0 mass % Al, <=2 mass % Fe and the balance Zn with inevitable impurities, is formed on the surface of the steel sheet, and further, an oxide layer containing Mg is formed on its upper layer. The oxide layer containing Mg is desirable to contain 0.01-4 g/m2 Mg expressed in terms of metallic Mg. The steel sheet may be pulled up in the oxidizing atmosphere after dipping into the galvanizing bath.
