<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device comprising a function for protecting a printing mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: When a platen 5 is carried to the inside of a main body cover under a state in which foreign matter 50 is mounted, or the hand of a user is likely to be pinched by the front surface wall 11 of the main body cover and the platen 5, the front surface wall 11 is pressed and warps inward, the distal end of a protuberance member 20 comes into contact with a plate-like member 84, and the plate-like member 84 of a clearance sensor mechanism naturally turns around the axis of a shaft member 81. Since a shielding member 85 turns to this side by the turning of the plate-like member 84, the propagation of the sensor beam of a sensor 88 is performed, and a CPU recognizes the abnormal state. In this case, when the platen 5 is being carried, the CPU stops a platen driving motor by the control of a motor driving section, and the carrying of the platen 5 is stopped.
