<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric drive unit in which a spline engagement part of an output shaft of a reduction gear to a drive shaft can be stably lubricated. <P>SOLUTION: This electric drive unit is provided with a motor provided on both sides of an engine on the front wheel side of an FR vehicle, and a reduction gear to transmit rotation of the motor to the drive shaft of each wheel, for example. The reduction gear is provided with a planetary carrier to be spline-engaged with the drive shaft. At the spline engagement part, an oil sump to feed lubricating oil to spline grooves is provided, so that lubricating oil is fed to the oil sump to sufficiently lubricate the spline engagement part. The oil sump is a circular recess formed in an inner circumferential surface of the planetary carrier to be communicated with an end part of the spline groove along the whole circumference of the drive shaft. The oil sump is communicated with the spline groove formed in an axial direction of the drive shaft, so that lubricating oil can be sufficiently supplied to all the spline grooves. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
