The airbag module for a motor vehicle has a cover separating an outer chamber from an inner chamber, a gas inlet opening (3), and a first flow outlet opening (4) in the airbag (1) from which gas reaches the outer chamber through an opening section of the cover. The airbag module has a second flow outlet opening which is connected to the gas outlet opening of a gas generator in such a way that the gas flowing from this outlet opening is directly at least partially into the outer chamber.
