An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to set fusing temperature variably according to a factor pattern of an input image, thereby reducing time required to print a first page and accordingly improving a printing speed. An image forming apparatus comprises a fusing device having a fusing heater, an image input unit(10) for providing an input image, and a controller(30) for controlling a printing speed according to a factor pattern of the input image. The controller comprises the following. A transition rate calculator(31) calculates a transition rate for binary data. A reference fusing temperature setup unit(33) sets reference fusing temperature in correspondence with the factor pattern recognized according to the transition rate. A comparator(35) controls the fusing heater by comparing the reference fusing temperature with fusing temperature which varies by driving of the fusing heater. |
