PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the arc length control having high accuracy by calculating the true arc voltage in a consumable electrode arc welding. SOLUTION: A welding power supply includes a voltage detection means VD for detecting the instantaneous value of the output voltage Vo to output the voltage detection value Vd, a current detection means ID for detecting the instantaneous value of the welding current Iw to output the current detection value Id, an external resistance value calculation unit RO for calculating the external resistance value Ro=Vd/Id with the voltage detection value Vd for the short-circuit period and the current detection value Id as the input, an arc voltage calculation unit VA for calculating the instantaneous value of the arc voltage Va=Vd-(Ro×Id), an arc voltage setting unit VAR for outputting the arc voltage set value Var, and output control units EI, PM for controlling the output of the welding power supply so that the calculated arc voltage Va is substantially equal to the arc voltage set value Var.
