PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the rapid and convenient screening of a substance with anticancer (tumor) activity and/or antiviral activity specifically cleaving DNA on a chromosome or nucleic acid where DNA replication occurs.SOLUTION: The invention provides a screening method for identifying a substance with anticancer activity and/or antiviral activity in combination with (1) a technique for antibody staining of the DNA into that the halogen-added nucleotide, which enables early analysis while visualizing a DNA replication region, is incorporated, and (2) pulsed-field gel electrophoresis for observing cleavage of a chromosome.SELECTED DRAWING: None
