PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, systems, and methods for detecting abnormalities or damage in structures.SOLUTION: A system includes: an ultrasonic inspection probe 110 to inspect surfaces of component; and a robotic device 120 with an end effector 122 coupled to the ultrasonic inspection probe 110. The robotic device 120 is automatically controllable to move the ultrasonic inspection probe 110. Additionally, an angle sensor subsystem coupled to the ultrasonic inspection probe 110 and the end effector detects an actual orientation of the end effector 122, and the system includes a controller configured to compare the actual orientation 123 with a desired orientation 53 and control the robotic device 120 to be adjusted in the desired orientation 53.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
