The present invention relates to: an iron-carbide/carbon composite catalyst containing cesium for fischer-tropsch (FT) synthesis; a preparation method thereof; and a preparation method of liquid or solid hydrocarbon using the catalyst. More particularly, the present invention relates to: a highly active iron-carbide/cesium/carbon-based composite catalyst for FT synthesis; a preparation method of the composite catalyst by using a mixture of a melt infiltration method, an external activation process under the presence of inert gas, and a wet supporting method of cesium salts; and a preparation method of liquid or solid hydrocarbon using the composite catalyst. The highly active iron-carbide/cesium/carbon-based composite catalyst is prepared by supporting activated cesium-containing iron-carbide particles in a porous carbon support body. The catalyst has enhanced reactivity while producing less methane, and improves selectivity of growing hydrocarbon chains.
