<p>PURPOSE:To allow a main stream of air introduced into an airflow meter to be disturbed as little as possible by a narrow space portion so as to enable the amount of intake air during operation of a secondary air system to be measured with accuracy by providing the narrow space portion between the airflow meter and an air outlet. CONSTITUTION:An intake structure of an internal combustion engine has an element 15 enclosed in air cleaner cases 12, 13 to collect foreign objects in air flowing through a passage 21 and a heat type airflow meter 5 mounted in the passage outlet 18 of the air cleaner case 13. The intake structure also has an air outlet 20a formed in the air cleaner case 12 between the element 15 and the inlet of the airflow meter 5 and a narrow space portion 51 between the air outlet 20a and the inlet of the airflow meter 5. Air taken into the inlet of the airflow meter 5 from the exit of the element 15 is disturbed little by turbulent air near the air outlet 20a. Therefore, a main stream of air sucked in through the inlet of the airflow meter 5 is disturbed little and the accuracy of flow measurements by the airflow meter 5 can be enhanced.</p> |
