PURPOSE:To obtain a compact packing machine, by constituting a half-folding device of the packing material and an opening device as a single device and reducing the installation space of the packing machine and directly connecting the packing material to a necessary seal device without winding it up on a roll. CONSTITUTION:When packing, a wide film F drawn out of a winding roll FR is bent along a tumbling guide 2-1 and a slanting guide 2-2 of a tumbling guide member 2 in a half-folding opening device 1 and arranged to rise along a rising guide member 3. After that it is folded back along the slanting side 4a of the half-folding guide member 4. That is, the wide film F is folded by half and opened. Next, a belt conveyor 8 is driven intermittently and an article is brought inside the half-folded film F-1, F-2. Subsequently, an L-shaped sealer 9 is actuated to simultaneously weld and cut respective two sides of the half-folded film F-1, F-2. Thereafter, the conveyor 8' and the chain feeder 9 are driven respectively to send out the sealed articles.
