PURPOSE:To accomplish the title insolubilization in a simple manner leading to precursors capable of giving ceramics with both high mechanical strength and elastic modulus by melt forming of an organic silazane polymer and treating the resultant form with a gas containing a specific silicon compound, etc., followed by treatment with steam. CONSTITUTION:An organic silazane polymer is melted and the resulting melt is delivered through a spinneret with fine nozzles to make a spinning and forming, and the resultant formed product is treated with a gas containing at least one kind of vapor of compound selected from (A) silicon compound of the formula (R is H, lower alkyl, alkenyl or aryl; X is chlorine, bromine or iodine; a is 0-2), (B) boron compounds of the formula BX3, (C) phosphorus compounds of the formula PXb (b is 3-5) and (D) metallic compounds of the formula MXc (M is Al, Ti, V, Fe, Ga, Ge, Zn, Sn, Sb, Te, Ta, W or Bi; c is valence of metal) followed by treatment of a steam-contg. gas, thus accomplishing the objective insolubilization of said organic silazane polymer. |
