Date May 23, 1996In a process for producing a halogenated organic compound wherein a hydrogen halide is added to an organic compound having an aliphatic carbon-carbon unsaturated bond, a catalyst is used, which is an organic compound having at least two polar groups in the molecule each containing a heteroatom having an unshared electron pair, and having no aliphatic carbon-carbon unsaturated bond. A typical example of the catalyst is a polyoxyalkylene glycol or a polyol having at least 3 hydroxyl groups. |
