PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden required for the preparing operation of a merchandise master file and to reduce time until the completion of a file by retrieving a reference file by a merchandise code thereby examining whether the pertinent merchandise characteristic information is registered or not, at the time of receiving the merchandise code transmitted from a data processing terminal. SOLUTION: Whenever a file preparing person inputs merchandise information on merchandise displayed on a merchandise rack at a store to a radio handy terminal 12 by each kind, a merchandise information message including input merchandise information is radio-transmitted to a file preparing device main body 11. At the main body 11, an existing store master file, a standard merchandise file and a local area merchandise file on a referring merchandise file storing part are retrieved in order by setting a merchandise code in a received message to be a retrieving key. When the record of the pertinent merchandise code is detected from one of the files, merchandise characteristic information in the record and merchandise information in the received message are combined to prepare and register the record of a merchandise master file. |
