PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing retinopathy of prematurity in premature birth newborn which is readily sufferable from retinopathy of prematurity. SOLUTION: This method for preventing retinopathy of prematurity comprising a step for parenterally administering lysine salt or alginic acid salt as a water-soluble and pharmaceutically effective salt of ibuprofen in therapeutically effective amount as an active ingredient for promoting autoregulation of blood flow of retina and chorioidea of premature birth newborn in which born body weight is <1,500 g and born fetus age is <32 weeks to the premature birth newborn is disclosed in the present invention.
