PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a manifold pressure sensor causing failure in a controller having two manifold pressure detection systems for fail-safe. SOLUTION: A calculating part 28 calculates differenceΔP between manifold pressure PMa and manifold pressure PMb detected by two sensors 5A, 5B, respectively. A first comparison part 29 outputs an abnormal signal when the differenceΔP is larger than a threshold value DP. A calculating part 30 calculates differenceΔPAMb between manifold pressure PMb and atmospheric pressure PAa. A difference calculating part 31 calculates differenceΔPAMa between manifold pressure PMa and atmospheric pressure PAa. A second comparison part 32 compares the differenceΔPMAa with the differenceΔPMAb by responding to outputting of the abnormal signal from the first comparison part 29 when the abnormal signal is outputted from the first comparison part 29 while an engine stops.
