PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission system capable of easily specifying a place where an error occurs and responding to the error by obtaining, from a remote device, a state between respective devices transmitting signals. SOLUTION: In an instantaneous drop investigation system constituted to emit flash light to transmit a trigger signal between a light emitting device and a light receiving device on channels between an instantaneous drop investigation device 10 and a signal repeating device 20, flash light is emitted to transmit a trigger signal and to transmit the signal by receiving the trigger signal by receiving the flash light, signals are sequentially exchanged to match a set timing, a section number corresponding to a reception timing is acquired, a signal is then instantaneously transmitted, and the total number of sections corresponding to the reception timing is acquired. Signals are exchanged again in a timing corresponding to the number of the section where error occurs, at the time of exchanging signals between channels, thereby notifying another apparatus about the section where error occurs.
