PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granulation method of a polymer capable of instantaneously detecting a phenomenon that some abnormality occurs after the completion of granulation or at the time of granulation and the polymer is fixed to the surface of a guide plate to be stacked on the guide plate or further overflow from the surface of the guide plate. SOLUTION: In the granulation method of the polymer, the polymer in a molten state is extruded into a strand form from the nozzle row 7 of a die head to be cooled and solidified on the guide plate 3 along which cooling water 4 flows down and the cooled polymer strand is cut into pellets 6. A water temperature detector for detecting a change in the temperature of cooling water and a granulation timer are operated in linking with each other not only to judge the change in water temperature within the granulation time set by the granulation timer as granulation abnormality but also to judge a change in water temperature after the granulation time is exceeded as the completion of the granulation of the polymer.
