A rotary shuttle device of a sewing machine for preventing the jam of an upper thread from generating is provided to intercept the insertion of the upper thread toward a gap between a gib and a guard, thereby enhancing the productivity in work. A bobbin case(BC) comprises a hook body(20). The hook body is mounted to a driving shaft(10) and has a hook(22) for hooking an upper thread. A bobbin case base(30) is received in the hook body. A bobbin case body(50) holds the bobbin at the outside. A bobbin(40) is installed within the bobbin case. A lower thread is wound to the bobbin case. The hook body includes a gib(25) with a semi-circle shape at the outside thereof. A thread guard(26) is connected with the gib. A vertical end(261) of the guard is formed at an end of the guard and adjacent to the end of the gib. A space(262) is formed at the upper portion of the vertical end. A guard arm(263) is protruded from the upper side of the space. The guard includes a sub side arm(265) for blocking the inlet of the gap and a hook body protruded from the upper portion of the vertical end.
