An AWM(Amplitude Width Modulation) driving method and a system for performing the same are provided to suppress a high frequency of each pixel among a current waveform component by rising or falling the current waveform in a step type by comparing the current waveform in a current pixel and front and rear pixels. A control signal generator includes a comparison operating unit(110), a PWM signal generator(120), and a delay circuit unit(130). The comparison operating unit receives three color data with 5 bits of a prior pixel and a posterior pixel based on a current pixel and compares and operates the stored data and determines the current waveform of the current pixel. A PWM signal generator receives the PWM signal information from the comparison operating unit and generates the PWM signal of each end of the current waveform of the determined current pixel.
