The purpose of the present invention is to ensure a fuel cell power consumer by suppressing a rapid drop in electric heater power consumption by inhibiting an electric heater from reaching a temperature equal to or higher than a power consumption reduction control initiation temperature. A fuel cell system (10) is provided with: a fuel cell (20) performing power generation in response to reaction gas supply; a fuel cell cooling system (30) circulating and cooling a fuel cell (20) refrigerant; an electric heater (40) operated to consume power of the fuel cell (20) and driven such that the power consumption drops rapidly at a temperature lower than the pyrolysis temperature of the refrigerant; and a heater cooling system (50) cooling the electric heater (40) by causing the refrigerant to flow around the electric heater (40). According to a fuel cell system control method, the electric heater (40) is cooled, by the refrigerant of the fuel cell cooling system (30) being caused to flow through the heater cooling system (50), in a case where the temperature of the refrigerant of the heater cooling system (50) is within a temperature range in which the power consumption of the electric heater (40) changes rapidly. |
