PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing method capable of reducing the average positioning time when a file stored in tape is read out.SOLUTION: The writing method receives, from an application of a host, data of a plurality of files demanded to be written into tape. The plurality of received files are used as a group, and the plurality of files are fragmented into segments of a predetermined size. The plurality of files are used as a group, and a series of segments of a predetermined size of the files are written sequentially in a predetermined sequence.
