A method and system for providing a network attached system for real-time disaster recovery and upgrade testing wherein said system contains object management system software and a system database which contains reference data to point to the object within the system objectstore, the primary system, the secondary replicated system being attached to the same mirrored objectstore during maintenance or disast er recovery requirement the replica system is unattached upgraded to become the primary system or becomes the primary system the method comprising steps of: (a) creating a replicated server containing the system in which the referenc e data in the system database points to the primary system mirrored filestore providing a storage mirrored filestore for changes to objects in the primary filestore to be recorded and system database tables that mirror the primary, except those tables, containing reference information that uniquely identifi es the replicated system from the primary production system on the network fabric; (b) unattaching the replica from the primary system in case of disaster or upgrade (c) subsequently after either successful upgrade or recovery reattaching the replica as the primary system.
