A dot-sighting device includes a light source, a beam splitter and a reflective element. The light source emits light. The beam splitter includes a surface that reflects at least a portion of a first light component of the light and transmits at least a portion of a second light component. The reflective element reflects at least a portion of the first light component reflected by the surface of the beam splitter toward the beam splitter. The light reflected by the reflective element includes the second light component.

1. A sighting device, comprising:
a housing having a first opening and a second opening, a first light component being defined as a light component that enters the housing through the second opening and exits the housing through the first opening, the first and second openings of the housing being arranged such that the first light component exiting the housing through the first opening includes light reflected from an external target; a light source that emits a second light component; a beam splitter disposed in the housing, the beam splitter being operable to transmit the first light component towards the first opening, and operable to reflect at least a portion of the second light component towards the first opening; and a reflective element that reflects the second light component, the reflective element being separate from the beam splitter and disposed in the housing.
