PURPOSE:To prevent exhaust gas from a plurality of exhaust pipes communicated to engine cylinders, from interfering with each other and to enhance the efficiency of exhaustion, by disposing a rectifying plate for guiding exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipes into the manifold chamber. CONSTITUTION:A V-shape four cylinder type engine which includes two right and left pairs of engine cylinders, each consisting of front and rear engine cylinders, comprises exhaust pipes extending from exhaust ports of the front and rear engine cylinders which are connected to a manifold chamber 10 communicated with a muffler downstream thereof. In this arrangement, the manifold chamber 10 is arranged on the center line of the vehicle body, and the left and right pairs of exhaust pipes 9, 11 are arranged symmetrically about the center line of the vehicle body in the lateral direction. Four rectifying plate pieces 21 that are disposed in the outer wall 15 of the manifold chamber 10 having four corners bulged out in an arcuated shape, are combined to constitute a rectifying plate 20 which therefore occupies in the manifold chamber 10. With this arrangement exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipes 9, 11 are independently and smoothly led into a downstream manifold section 23. |
