The clasp device holds jewellery securely in place, esp. ear jewellery. It consists of an approx. U-shaped or horseshoe-shaped rigid shaped element (2). It has an adjustable clamping element (1) on at least one of its two shank ends. This clamping element (1) forms a clamping surface (8), and the opposite shank of the rigid shaped element (2) forms the other clamping surface (4). At least one end of the adjustable clamping element (1) tails off into an outwardly angled clamping lever (5) with a tooth arrangement (7) on its upper side. This clamping lever (5) passes through an aperture (6) in the rigid shaped element (2). The clamping lever (5) is pressed upwards by the elastic force of the clamping element (1) and engages in the aperture (6). The clamping element (1) can be adjusted by operating the clamping lever (5) so that the two clamping surfaces (4,8) of the clasp device are positioned at a defined distance.
