PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the exposure level of a subject and the blurred state of a background imprinted on a silver salt film by a liquid crystal monitor and to inform a photographer of appropriate exposure level and stop value. SOLUTION: This camera has an electronic image pickup device including an area sensor 15, a monitor display device 23 consisting of liquid crystal and a photographing device including a shutter 6 to expose the silver salt film 7, and the state of an image to be photographed on the silver salt film is previously confirmed by the monitor display device by executing luminance correction for the image of a subject image outputted by the photographing device or changing a diaphragm in the middle of an input optical path to an image pickup device stepwise and executing image pickup.
