The invention relates to a wireless V.24 data transmission system operating between a data terminal (DEE) and a data transmission device (DÜE) for data telecommunication having a first data transmission apparatus (DÜE) connected to the data terminal (DEE) by means of a V.24 cable and a second data transmission apparatus (DÜG2) connected to the data terminal (DEE) by means of a V.24 cable, wherein said apparatus may in turn be connected for wireless communication by means of an air interface. According to the invention, in order to reactivate and deactivate an autobauding function in such a way tha t the autobauding function is reliably realized and especially that no risk of falsification of useful data transmission emerges until deactivation of the hitherto activated autobauding function, the autobauding function activated in the first data transmission apparatus (DÜG1) and in the data transmission device (DÜE) is deactivated and reactivated at a moment when the data transmission device (DÜE) would deactivate and reactivate the autobauding function in a wire V.24 data transmission system.
