PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and constitutionally simple ink jet recording device which enables continuous recording operations, allows air in a sub-tank and an ink feeding tube to be removed without wasting ink, and enables prevention of ink leakage from a recording head. SOLUTION: This device is provided with the sub-tank 10 and a main tank 7. The sub-tank 10, which has an ink holding part 12 communicating with the recording head 6, is provided with a first negative pressure generating means 13 for generating negative pressure in the holding part 12. The main tank 7, which has an ink storage part 7c for storing ink fed to the sub-tank 10, is provided with a second negative pressure generating means 7d for generating the negative pressure in the storage part 7c. The sub-tank 10 and the main tank 7 are connected together by an ink feeding passage, and the ink feeding passage is communicated and intercepted by a switching means 20. |
