PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing unit having superior durability at starting and stopping operation, and also capable of realizing higher reliability and a low cost. SOLUTION: A radial fluid bearing 38 and thrust fluid bearing 26 are provided between a penetrating-through hole 24a arranged in a bearing member 24 formed by a sintered metal or oil-pregnant sintered metal and a shaft member 26 inserted into the penetrating-through hole. The bearing member 24 is fixed on an inner peripheral face of a hole 22 arranged in a bearing supporting member 20, and a lubricant-storing portion 32 communicating with the radial fluid bearing and thrust fluid bearing is arranged between the outer periphery of the bearing member and the inner peripheral face of the hole. The lubricant- storing portion is arranged that the gap of a storing space is gradually reduced in proportion to the forwarding direction to the fluid bearings.
