<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory controller for improving the reliability on writing data while suppressing the drop in the efficiency of command processing by checking an erased state of writing candidate blocks to be writing destinations of the data when a command processing request is not generated from a host side. <P>SOLUTION: After the end of the processing based on the command processing request from the host system side, an inspection whether the erased state of the writing candidate blocks to be the writing destinations of the data is normal is started when a writing command is executed.
