The piece of furniture can be a chest of drawers or a unit with a hinged door. The shock absorber (1) is positioned at the front in order to facilitate a silent closing of the drawer, the door respectively. A cylinder (4) and piston unit is positioned inside a housing (2) stationary accommodated in a bore at the main unit with the piston rod supported at the back of the housing (2). The cylinder (4) is surrounded by a sleeve with a threaded outer surface meshing with a complementary inner surface of the housing (2) in order to facilitate an adjustment of its length. |
