PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To break an AC or DC current of a high voltage at high speed.SOLUTION: In a high voltage circuit breaker having a construction so that four reverse continuity semiconductor switches 1 are bridged, a plurality of magnetic energy regeneration switches having a structure so as to connect a snubber capacitor 2 are connected in serial, and a current is bypassed in an electric conduction point 4, a breaking operation selects one of pair switches and allows a capacitor 2 to discharge according to opening of the electric conduction point in a direction of reducing the current of the electric conduction point 4, turns on/off and maintains each switch so that the current of electric conduction point is calculated by a current sensor 7 and is close to zero. In that state, the electric conduction point is opened, and the current is shut downed by totally turning-off switch 1 after that.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
