Provided is a method for removing a trace of mercury by oxidizing mercury using oxides and ultraviolet rays generated by corona discharge or converting mercury into a harmless metal oxide TiO2-HgO by injection of TiO2 nanoparticles. The method for removing mercury from exhaust gas comprises the steps of: injecting a neutralizer and a chemical additive into a non-thermal plasma reactor(10) into which exhaust gas comprising a trace of mercury is flown; applying a high voltage pulse generated from a high voltage pulse generator(12) to the reactor, thereby generating corona discharge to oxidize mercury; injecting TiO2 nanoparticles or TiO2 precursor materials from a TiO2 nanoparticle injector(14) into the reactor and reacting the mercury or oxidized mercury with TiO2 by ultraviolet rays to convert the mercury or oxidized mercury into TiO2-HgO; and collecting the converted TiO2-HgO by a particulate collector(18) installed in rear of the reactor.
