<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of detecting an immovable object while preventing misdetection. <P>SOLUTION: Like a weighted mixed normal distribution e.g., which luminance distribution out of a plurality of luminance distributions concerned with luminance includes the luminance of one or more pixels is judged, the weight of the luminance distribution judged as the one to which the luminance of one or more pixels belongs is gradually increased and the weight of other luminance distributions is gradually reduced to calculate the weight of a plurality of luminance distributions. Timewise change states of the luminance of one or more pixels are classified into a plurality of classes including at least a stable state, an intermediate state and an unstable state on the basis of the calculated weight and the timewise transition of the classes is discriminated. Time that the timewise transition of the classes is turned from the unstable class to the stable class via the intermediate class is set as luminance change detection timing, a reference luminance value at the timing is compared with a changed luminance value and an immovable object is detected and judged from the compared result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
