Provided are an onboard device and a vehicle interior light control system provided with said onboard device, with which it is possible to prevent reductions in convenience and reduce needless illumination from a vehicle interior light. An onboard device 1 for controlling the extinguishing of an illuminated vehicle interior light 2 is provided with a locking sensor unit for sensing that a vehicle door has been locked, a communication unit 4 for conducting wireless communication with a portable device capable of locking the vehicle door, a specification unit for specifying the location of the portable device on the basis of the wireless communication conducted by the communication unit 4, and a control unit 11 for extinguishing the vehicle interior light when the specification unit has specified that the portable device is located within a prescribed range outside of the passenger compartment and the locking sensor unit has sensed that the vehicle door is locked. |
