The table has a single pedestal (1) which is vertical and preferably telescopic, so that its height can be altered. The column (1) rises from one side of a horizontal foot (4). Parallel to the foot (4) on the same vertical plane as it, and rising from one side of the column (1) is a horizontal arm (9) which supports the table top (8). - The free end of the horizontal arm (9) is supported by a strut (13) rising from the foot (4). When not in use, the strut (13) fits coaxially into a hollow piece. The strut (13) is hinged to a core part which rests on a connection on the foot. The top of the strut (13) has a shoe (22) which engages with the horizontal arm (9) of the table.
