PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voice synthesizer by which a road sign by a place name written in Chinese characters difficult to undertand is not overlooked and by which also a present position can be known easily by a method wherein a voice is synthesized on the basis of a retrieved result from a database and one or more out of a plurality of names are selected. SOLUTION: A switch 1 sends an input signal from a driver to a controller part 2, the controller part 2 controls a voice-synthesis processing part 4, and information on a Chinese-character reading way required for a voice synthetic operation is stored in a Chinese-character-reading database 3. The voice-synthesis processing part 4 is composed of a database retrieval part 41 and of a voice synthesis part 42, and it synthesizes a voice from an input text code on the basis of the Chinese-character-reading database 3 so as to be sent to an audio circuit part 5. The text code is a code mainly with reference to a proper noun such as a place name, a road name or the like. The retrieval part 41 retrieves the Chinese-character-reading database 3 from the input text code, it retrieves the proper reading way of Chinese characters so as to sent to the voice synthesis part 42, it creates a synthetic voice, and the voice is amplified by the audio circuit part 5 so as to be output from a loudspeaker 6. |
