PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clarify the partition of the hardened parts of a pardonable layer from its nonhardened part without lowering the strength of the hardened parts and to form a clear and sufficiently strong hardened image. SOLUTION: This photosensitive material comprises a support, a stripping promoting layer, a hardenable layer, and a photosensitive layer, and contains a reducing agent, and the hardened image is formed on the support through an imagewise exposing process, a process for forming the hardened parts and the nonhardened parts by heating in the hardenable layer in accordance with the exposed parts and the nonexposed parts, and a process for stripping the nonhardened parts together with the photosensitive layer from the support and the stripping promoting layer. This hardenable layer contains a cross- linkable polymer having repeating units represented mainly by the formula in which R<1> is an H atom or a 1-4C alkyl group; P<1> is a univalent ethylenically unsaturated group; L<1> is a simple bond or a divalent organic bonding group; (A)b is repeating units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; (a) is a weight percentage of 0.5-99.5; and (b) is a weight percentage of 0.5-99.5. |
