The pump housing (2) has at least one suction connection and at least one pressure connection. The pressure connection is connected to a pressure chamber beyond the conveyor screw pair (1) and forms the connection for an upwardly conducted pressure conduit. An auxiliary suction conduit in the conveyor screw area is connected laterally to the pump chamber (18), which extends downwards and with its lower suction end locates at the level of the opening (3a) of the vertically downwardly extending suction nozzle (3). The flow cross-section of the auxiliary suction conduit is very much smaller than that of the suction nozzle.
